Maintenance Procedures

HULL & SUPERSTRUCTURE

– The hull bottom is to be washed with a high pressure nozzle, right after lifting. It is the right moment to check the hull for damages or blisters. For any gel coat and structural damages you might have discovered, repairs can be arranged at NAVAR during the winter season.
– Antifouling coating is to be renewed before the season. Our technicians are at you disposal for advice about coating choice and technology.
– Gelcoat needs to be polished from time to time to be shiny. It is part of preparation work for the season.
– Teak deck needs special care. To obtain a beautiful color it is to be sanded or chemically treated before the season. Covering with shrink foil or awning will make teak deck last longer. Also, teak oil coating after season will prevent aging.

ENGINES & GENERATOR
– It is a must to douse the engine cooling systems with fresh water after the season. Heat exchangers are to be filled with antifreeze, in anticipation of low temperatures. For an outboard engine it is enough to empty water after splashing. Check parts for corrosion and grease, if needed.
– It preferable to have your vessel serviced after season, not before – because it is better for the engine to be filled with new oil during the winter season.
– Our professional technicians are here to take care of your engine. They will make suggestions on what is to be done for a proper working and long lasting engine.

EQUIPMENT
– Propellers, shafts, drives, rudders, flaps and platform lifting systems are not protected from fouling. They are to be cleaned with acid which dissolves shells (calcium). This work is to be done by our technicians, right after pressure washing.
– Underwater equipment is covered with zinc protectors, ensuring protection from electro-corrosion. Zincs must be changed if they are worn out.
– INOX pulpits, handrails and other equipment are to be polished to remove stain and corrosion paths.
– For other equipment, always refer to the user manual.
